Right to Run/Walk Race Returns to Sunnypark

The Right to Run Race Returns to Sunnypark Shopping Centre

After a few years away, the Right to Run race made its much-anticipated return to Sunnypark Shopping Centre in partnership with the Arcadia Running Club. Previously hosted annually at the mall until 2019, the event finally came home this year, bringing together running enthusiasts for a day of fitness, fun, and community spirit.

The Sunnypark Shopping Centre team worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the event’s success. Arriving at the mall as early as 4 AM, they managed registrations smoothly, ensuring that every participant was signed up and ready to go before the race kicked off on time.

The race saw an incredible turnout, with runners of all ages lacing up their sneakers. Senior citizens showcased their amazing strength, proving that age is just a number, while parents joined the race pushing toddlers in strollers, making it a heartwarming family affair. The spirit of inclusivity and determination was inspiring.

Adding to the energy of the morning, UNISA Radio broadcasted live from the mall, creating a lively atmosphere with music and race commentary. Mall tenants also played a key role in making the day special—Wimpy and Spur served steaming cups of coffee to fuel the runners, while the radio station kept the vibe upbeat and engaging.

With such a strong and successful comeback, the Right to Run race has re-established itself as a beloved community tradition at Sunnypark Shopping Centre. We look forward to seeing even more runners, families, and supporters at next year’s event!
